Reid's 3rd Birthday

Our darling Reid McCaig Johnston celebrated his 3rd birthday on April 22 and he woke up so excited and ready for his big day.     He had his favorite cinnamon rolls for breakfast.

I made cupcakes and took them to his class after lunch.

Big Brother came down to hall to join in the fun.

On Saturday, we had the Butlers over for a "balloon party".  That is what Reid said he wanted.  A Balloon Party.  So I blew up some balloons, rented a bounce house, and ordered some pizza and that was a done deal.  He had a blast!

Reid is our baby and it's just hard to believe he is 3.  He loves to play with brother, still sleeps in his crib, naps 2 hours, is somewhat potty trained, is learning how to ride a bike, talks like a grown up, has the straightest hair in the land, loves to have books read to him, his favorite song is "Jesus Loves Me', still wants to stay in the nursery at church,  wants to do everything big brother does, and just makes our family so happy.

Rosemary Beach Trip

These little cuties came down to Rosemary Beach on Sunday following Virginia's wedding and we wasted no time hitting the beach.    The boys were equipped with all the necessary tools for a big dig.

There was this little pool of water between the ocean and the sand and the water was warm...the perfect place for some serious splashing.

We walked to dinner and tried to snap a few pics on the way.

Oh my little Reid I love you so.  I wish I could stop time for just a bit.  Part baby, part big boy and oh so so so cute.

Precious angels were ready for bed and books after such a busy day.

The next morning we headed over to play putt putt, one of our favorite beach activities.

After lunch, we hit the beach again.  We sort of got into a routine of lunch, beach, pool, rest, bath, dinner.  It was a very nice change of pace.

There is a first for everything!  My parents came down on Monday night and we went to Cafe 30A for dinner.  My parents have never been on 30A.  Crazy!  They have been all over the world....but not the the beach.

The early birds went out and collected shells at 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

After my parents left, we went on a long bike ride, hit the playground, then went to lunch at George's.

Last family pic of the trip and it's a winner.

Dinner at Edwards.  The boys were so well behaved on this trip and it was a nice change from last year, when Reid was still a baby and just could not hang in there for the long days.

The Donut Hole
Reid loves the powered donuts just as much as I do.

Anna Kate told us about this lunch spot on 331 on the way out of town called The Bay and we went there for lunch.  It was just delicious and they had a great little beach for the littles.  We will be going back to this place again for sure.

The 2016 Beach trip was a success and thank you Ricky and Brooke for one again letting us stay in your beautiful home.

Virginia's Wedding

My friend Virginia just got married at Rosemary Beach last weekend.  Her sister, Anna Kate is a great friend from Birmingham and I see her a good bit, as she, Lauren Baugh, and Ashley Jones are my lunch buddies when I come to town.

We started out the weekend on Thursday by heading to dinner at Edwards and having drinks at The Pearl.  The perfect girls night.

Friday night we went to the rehearsal dinner.  Fun twist: Meghan was in our little friend group in Birmingham and now we are neighbors in Montgomery and see each other (and help each other) all of the time.

Above:  The happy couple- Virginia and Josh (aka "the tall doctor")

Below:  Ashley, Meghan, Me, Lauren, Caron, Anna Kate and Virginia at the rehearsal dinner.

Anna Kate gave one of the most heartfelt toasts I have ever heard.  We were all tearing up to see how much these two sisters love each other.

Saturday was the perfect lazy day.  We went on a walk, had lunch, shopped, and got ready for the BIG event!  It was the most beautiful and perfect setting for a wedding.  The weather could not have been better: Not hot, not cold, no wind, sunny, and simply ideal for a spring wedding.

Look at this folks!  It was so much more stunning in person.  I was drooling.

Our friend Amy O'Brien come for the wedding.

Ashley and Darren

All of us with our exuberant bride!  She was just gorgeous.

This spread just owned me.  The photo just does not do it justice.  It was amazing and DELICIOUS.

No detail was left out.  Anna Kate planned the wedding (and her Daddy paid for it) and we were pumped when they passed out these glow in the dark tambourines and diamond rings.  How fun! Lauren put so much energy into tapping her tambourine she got severe blisters...now known as #tambourinehands
Rumor has it that some people had injuries to their hips!

Caron and Meghan

We got a little wild and I decided to leave those pics off the blog but they are hilarious.

Laughter with friends is just good for the soul.  Period.

It was just the best day celebrating Virginia.  I always have felt a little kindred spirit to her.  She is a DOTING aunt to her nieces, she has a career and owned her own home, she loves to cook, shop, and be girly, she met her husband on a blind date, he is a doctor, she is the younger sister., and she married at the perfect age of 32.   All just like me!  Those are just a few characteristics that Virginia and I have in common and I could not be happier for her.
