Look who had a birthday party this weekend! Daniel will be one this week and Leigh Anne and Michael had his party Sunday afternoon. It was a family party and was so sweet. Daniel was asleep when everyone arrived, so Leigh Anne had to wake him up. He was a little overwhelmed for while, but started warming up. Leigh Anne, as usual, had everything looking perfect!

Georgia and Jack could not help themselves. They had to play with the toys as Daniel opened them.
Jack loved this art piece of a race track. It had been painted and the race cars were on metal tracks and the kids could push buttons to make them race. Notice that Jack whipped out his race car from his pocket to drive it along the glass. 
We then went over the the art station and they each drew me a picture. They were very focused on this task.
We went outside at the Shakespeare Park to look at the ducks. Jack was not so sure in the beginning. He kept wanting me to hold him. He warmed up and we went closer. Too bad we forgot the bread to feed them.
Later on, we went inside and Georgie decided to draw me a picture.
This is the finished product. It is a picture of the two of us with our names are on it. Gosh, with Lauren's wedding coming up next week, I sure wish I looked like that!
The kids sang the song "Brother Noah Build Your Arc" for me. They do hand motions and sing together. It is too cute!
This was my first day to play around with my new lens. It is so different for me and I am still trying to get used to the settings. It works best in natural light and does a good job and blurring out the background, but the kids were not in to mood to pose for pictures....so better luck next time!

We had the kitchen done in December but something was still missing....the floors. The new kitchen made the ivory tile look SO BAD! So, I called Bill Farley, hardwood floor extradinare, to come and lay down the floors. They are still unfinished and unsanded (the "acclimation" stage of 30 days) but he is coming next week to sand and stain and we are ready!
Next project, the rotton eve on the front of the house. The gutters leaked and rotted the wood on the eve and it just started looking worse and worse. We have been wanting to repair it for 2 months, but it has been SO cold. Bryan has been working on wamer days and I will post a picture of the new wood when it is done. My dad and Ben Little are going to help finish it hopefully in the next week or so.
There used to be this HUGE monster bush here that was about 20 feet tall. It's branches rubbed against the side of the roof and we figured out that the rats were coming in the attic from the tree. So one day, Bryan tied to tree to the back of his truck and pulled it to the road in one move. It was hilarious! Underneath the bush, we found this hammer in the fence. We took it as a sign that we needed to keep working.

Next project, the basement. I painted the entire basement (walls and trim) and it was a pain in the rear! You can't tell yet, but it does look good and I have picked out fabric for the drapes that Pat is making this week. We had to throw out the 1960s shutters. They had to go. 
Can we say, Sanford and Son?
All in all, we are making progress on the house. I am so ready for it to be finished because the mess and dust are driving me crazy.
