Quick Trip to Jackson

We went to Jackson a couple of weekends ago for a quick visit with family.  We all got together for dinner at Seafood R'volution Friday night and had a great time and a wonderful meal.  

I loved getting to snuggle with Lyla and my boys were equally happy to see Aunt Lenny. 

Big Dog is always #1 with the kiddos.  Reid especially loves him.  He was stuck to Big Dog all weekend like glue. 

The little star of the evening was baby Sydney.  He is 5 months old now and oh so adorable and cute.  My boys were in love with him and are looking forward to more cousin bonding at the lake next weekend.  

 

The next morning, we got up, dressed and headed to cousin Jason's final ceremony to beceome a Catholic Priest.  We didn't snap many pictures at the ceremony, but I did get this one of the boys in the hotel window.  Oh the cuteness of those little undies.  

 

Front Yard Re-Do

This spring, we have been hard at work creating a new front yard.  Our yard probably has not been "landscaped" since it was built in the 1960s.  The azaleas were old and tired and we really didn't have any shrubbery at the house.  I also wanted a more tailored look overall.  

BEFORE:

We had lots of trees cut down and all of the existing shrubbery removed in February. 

So in March, we hauled, we worked, we went to Green Thumb Nursery about 100 times, we dug, we dug some more, we fought with roots buried in the ground, we hauled about 30 bags of topsoil, put out 46 bails of pine straw, put out new sod, and oh so much more.  My body got quite the workout.   With all of that said, we are super pleased with the results.  This is the front.  We still have not completed the side of the driveway, but it is coming along nicely.

We planted mostly boxwoods.  Hopefully, the small boxwoods will grow into a hedge and the rounds will grow a little bigger and we can keep those rounded nicely.  I did begonias around the cone boxwoods.
