We spent the night in Birmingham Sunday night and got up bright and early Monday morning to head to St. Vincent's to meet our sweet baby boy.
I was a big ball of nerves but it all went so quickly, before we knew it, we were in the OR and at 7:22 a.m., Reid McCaig Johnston was born.
Reid McCaig Johnston
April 22, 2012
6 pounds, 8 ounces
20 and 1/2 inches
6 pounds and 8 ounces. I was shocked. He was a pound smaller than his big brother.
Bryan holding Reid for the frist time. We had a TON of pics from the birth that our nurse took but I will spare you all the images. They are a bit disturbing to me even. Did you all know that when a baby is born, it is COVERED in this white gross stuff? I was glad when they got him all cleaned off and covered up. He really was so cute though!
We got settled in our room about 8:00 and Bryan and I had about 20 minutes alone with him before my family arrived. My parents were so proud and looked so happy when they first saw him.
Just about 30 minutes old! What a sweet baby!!! This was our first photo together with our new little boy.
Proud Daddy with his second little boy!
Nana and Papa (my parents) were beaming as well. Reid makes 4 grandsons for them, and one princess Georgia Anne is our only little girl.
Our nurse Cheri. I absolutely LOVE her. We had her with Banks all 4 days in the hospital and when St. Vincent's called last Friday to confirm our arrival, I requested her and sure enough when we arrived on Monday morning, there she was waiting to take care of us.
I had this perfect big brother meets little brother moment that never happened. Reid was taken over to the nursery for observation about 11:45 and Banks arrived a little after Noon. Not a big deal to the Sir, who was just as glad to see Mary and John Getty.
Reid had to spend a couple of days in the NICU for observation and to get a round of anti-biotics because they were suspicious that he might have some sort infection. Luckily, all of his tests came back normal and he was released.
Fast Forward 3 days and Reid was all clear to come back to our room. We enjoyed a quiet night in our room with our baby and by Friday morning we were ready to go home!
Tara was there to visit and to see us out to the car.
We got Reid dressed to go home.
We are all home and loving life with our new baby. He is SO laid back and has been no trouble at all. He sleeps most of the time and is just the best baby. We are so blessed to have 2 healthy boys and I thank God every day that he has blessed me with such a beautiful family.
